This is a weekly assignment that reviews their 5th grade math skills and has a logic puzzle at the end. Each of the 5 puzzles is worth 10 points and the final logic response is another 10 points for a total of 60 points.
Learn More8/27/2018During week 1, we completed the week of Inspirational Math by Jo Boaler. There were various videos designed to encourage students to try their hardest in math class and understand that they too can be "math people".
Learn More8/24/2018Students are given a packet that they must complete. It involves creating an architectural drawing of a city that is described in the paperwork provided. Students are provided dimensions and must draw out the city and calculate areas of various buildings within the city. They are able to name it and determine the population.
Learn More9/3/2018In week 2, we begin our studies of Geometry. We start with 2 - dimensional figures. This includes discovering the formulas for calculating area for squares, rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, trapezoids and composite figures. In week 3, we move from two-dimensions to three. We will use our knowledge of finding the areas of 2 dimensional shapes to be able to find the surface areas of prisms.
Learn More9/3/2018Students completed their first formal quiz on 2-D geometry.
Learn More9/10/2018Students displayed their knowledge of the vocabulary that we have used throughout the geometry unit. Students were also permitted to complete corrections to their quiz to earn half of the credit back.
9/20/2018Students will be given 1 week to complete quiz corrections.

Learn More10/5/2018We begin our studies of Number Theory. We start with Factoring numbers. This leads into Prime Factorization of numbers which is used to discover the "DNA" of numbers. This will also allow us to find GCF and LCM. We will learn various methods of finding GCF and LCM and using Prime Factorization.
Learn More10/2/2018This is a summary of our lessons to date and will ensure student understanding. These are due Friday 11/9/2018.
Learn More11/9/2018This escape room allows for students to review Unit 4: Fractions. More specifically, dividing fractions.
Learn More12/12/2018Students will write and evaluate numerical expressions, with and without grouping symbols, involving whole-number exponents.
Learn More3/11/2019Students will apply the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions without exponents.
Learn More3/13/2019Students will identify when two expressions are equivalent and justify with mathematical reasoning.
Learn More3/14/2019Below is the vocabulary that you will need to understand in order to obtain success in this unit.
